Bill Beizer has over fifteen years of industry and consulting experience, including expertise in developing performance measurement systems, optimizing supply chain processes, and identifying essential customer needs. He has teamed with HBS professor Robert Kaplan on numerous activity-based cost-management and Balanced Scorecard initiatives. Bill led the food industry’s Efficient Consumer Response Performance Measures Initiative, publishing and presenting supply chain best practices to industry leaders. His sector expertise includes financial services, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products industries worldwide. In recent years, Bill has variously served as Vice President and Director of Operations for Fuld & Company, a leading competitive intelligence firm, and as Managing Director and Cambridge Office Head at a strategic research firm, Stax, Inc., specializing in acquisition diligence for private equity clients. Prior to his time at Stax, Bill was a Principal at Gemini Consulting, where he managed the analyst program and created the firm’s Strategic Research Group, a core component of the firm’s global knowledge management program. Bill has an AB in Economics and an MBA from Harvard University. Terry Brown is an expert in strategic planning, balanced scorecard design and deployment, process improvement, and quality management. For more than 11 years, Terry has worked with Fortune 100 companies, mid-sized, and small companies, both public and private. Formerly Vice President of the Manufacturing and Process Industry Sectors at the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, he has deep experience in those sectors, and also has experience spanning multiple additional industries, including: consumer products, healthcare, government, financial services, insurance, and food service. In recent years, his focus has been on developing an integrated model of strategic management, the "Value Delivery System," which weaves strategic planning, balanced scorecard management, initiative portfolio management, quality management, financial planning and management, and performance management into an integrated, continuous process. His recent client engagements include: Bowne & Company, Philips Consumer Electronics North America, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine, and Eatzi's. His list of senior executive references extends well beyond these companies and industries. Charlie Fine has been on the MIT faculty since 1983 and currently holds the Chrysler Leaders for Manufacturing Professorship. He teaches in the operations management group at MIT's Sloan School of Management and also serves as Co-Director of MIT's Communications Technology Roadmap. Charlie's teaching focuses on operations management, manufacturing strategy, strategic sourcing, and service supply chains. His research has been devoted to understanding the economics of quality improvement, flexible manufacturing, and the evolution of industry value chains in technology-intensive sectors. He is the author of many technical journal articles as well as the book, Clockspeed: Winning Industry Control in the Age of Temporary Advantage, by Perseus Books, 1998, 1999. Charlie consults widely and has worked with companies such as Agile Software, Alcan, Bombardier, Chrysler, Delphi Automotive, Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, Fluor, GE, GM, Goodyear, HP, Intel, Kodak, Lucent, Mercury Computer, Merrill Lynch, 3M, Motorola, NCR, Nokia, Nortel, Oracle, Sematech, Teradyne, Toyota, TRW, Unilever, Volkswagen, Volvo. He earned an AB in Mathematics and Management Science from Duke University, an MS in Operations Research from Stanford University, and a PhD in Business Administration (Decision Sciences) from Stanford University. Rob Galford is a Managing Partner at the Center for Leading Organizations, and divides his time between teaching at executive education programs and working with senior executives on the issues that lie at the intersection of business strategy, corporate organization and leadership. He has taught on the Executive Programs at the Columbia Graduate School of Business, the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and, most recently, Harvard. In addition, he has taught Management Policy in the MBA Program at Boston University Graduate School of Management. Earlier in his career, Rob was Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer of Digitas. He was also a Vice President of The MAC Group and its successor firm, Gemini Consulting, focusing largely on the strategic and organizational challenges facing Fortune 100 Companies, international financial institutions and professional services entities. He has practiced law with the international firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York, and has also worked in investment management, first for Citicorp in New York, and later in Boston. Rob currently sits on the Boards of Directors of Forrester Research, Inc. and Access Data Corporation. Rob has been a contributor to the Harvard Business Review
on executive and HR issues. His work has also appeared frequently in
the Boston Globe, as a "Job Doc" advice columnist. Rob co-authored
The

Press, and The
Trusted Leader published by The Free Press. He also hosts the
business video, Talk About Change! with the popular cartoon
character Dilbert. His educational background includes Liceo Segre, Turin, Italy, a BA in Economics and Italian Literature from Haverford College, an MBA from Harvard and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Alastair Robertson is a world-renowned leadership and strategic change expert and consultant, with 27 years of experience both as an executive in the consumer products industry and in consulting. He leads The Leadership Development activities for Stackhouse Garber Associates, specializing in helping senior executives change both the way they do business and the way they behave as leaders, individually and collectively. He has worked extensively with clients on the development of leadership behaviors specifically linked to the building of enhanced performance, tailored to the context of an organization's business strategy. He is a specialist in individual, team and organization leadership assessment and behavior development, building on personal motivational strengths, and is an advisor/coach to many European- and USA-based executives. His clients include many Fortune 500 companies, across all industry sectors. In addition to consulting and coaching, Alastair conducts research in leadership, has published numerous articles in this area, and is a frequent conference speaker. He graduated from the University of Glasgow. Fred Sturdivant is the co-founder and Chairman of The Tylor Group, a growth-strategy focused management consulting firm. Fred previously was the Executive Managing Director of the Strategic Decisions Group/Navigant, where he was responsible for the firm's high technology and information technology solutions practices. Prior to that, he was President of the Research and Advisory Services unit of CSC Index. Earlier, he was Co-Managing Director of Gemini Consulting North America. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President of the MAC Group, responsible for the firm's North American practice when it became part of Gemini Consulting. Before becoming a full-time consultant, Fred had a distinguished academic career. He was a professor of marketing at the University of Southern California and at the University of Texas (Austin). Later he was appointed professor of business administration at Harvard University and subsequently occupied an endowed chair as the Riklis Professor of Business and its Environment at Ohio State University. During his 20-year academic career, Fred received teaching excellence awards, published numerous articles in leading journals and authored or co-authored ten books. Fred earned a BS with honors from San Jose State College, an MBA from the University of Oregon and a PhD from Northwestern University. Rex Varner has over fifteen years of professional services experience. His expertise spans the areas of strategy, operations, sales, and marketing and he has extensive experience advising senior executives in the financial services, metals and mining, biotech, petrochemicals, software, high-tech, and non-profit sectors. Geographically, Rex has lived and worked in Europe and Africa and has regularly led executive workshops in Singapore, New York, London, Amsterdam, and Johannesburg. Formerly, Rex led several practices at the Corporate Executive Board, including the Operations Council, the Sales Leadership Roundtable and the Marketing Leadership Roundtable. In this capacity, he was responsible for the development of best practices, tools, diagnostics, and executive seminars for companies from around the globe. He has authored numerous studies on subjects such as: the application of Six Sigma to service environments; process outsourcing; and operational risk management. Rex is also a former McKinsey & Company management consultant where he was a member of the firm’s Financial Services Information and Technology Group. Rex holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from the College of William & Mary where he earned membership to Phi Beta Kappa.
